Progress tracking

Because you continuously rate how well you remembered a card, Recall can give you a precise picture of what you know at any given time.

Deck retention

Deck retention

The deck retention is the average of all cards' estimated probability that you will remember them at a given time.

You can visualize the deck retention over time in the deck's page, in the Progress tab. When you deck retention reaches your target retention, the gauge will turn green.

Card retention

Card progress

You can also visualize the retention of a single card over time in the card's detail panel, in the Progress tab. It comes with additional information such as the learning stage and the difficulty of the card.

Learning stages

Any card in Recall is in one of the following learning stages:

  • Unscheduled: The card is not scheduled yet.
  • Learning: The card has recently been scheduled.
  • Relearning: The card was in the review phase but you forgot it.
  • Young: The card enters the review phase but has still short intervals (below 21 days).
  • Mature: The card is in the review phase and has long intervals (above 21 days).

You can consider you "know" a card once it has reached the mature stage, which means your memory is stable and it will take you a long time to forget it.
