Content Policy

The Deck Library is where learners find decks they can trust and start studying right away. This policy describes what we expect from the decks published there.

Every deck you publish must follow both this policy and our Terms of Use.

Content quality

One clear topic. The deck covers a well-defined subject, and its name says what it is. For example, “Spanish irregular verbs: present tense” rather than “Spanish 2”.

Accurate. Facts are correct, and the deck is free of typos, with consistent spelling throughout.

One idea per card. Each card tests a single fact or concept. Long lists and paragraphs are split into several cards.

Unambiguous answers. Each question has one clearly correct answer. Add context when a prompt could be read in more than one way.

Makes sense to anyone. Someone who has never seen your notes can study the deck. Avoid references like “lecture 3” or “what my teacher said”, and abbreviations only you would know.

Consistent format. Cards follow the same structure and style, and each field is used the same way on every card.

Well structured. Information is spread across fields rather than packed into a front and a back, with card layouts where they help, for example to study vocabulary in both directions.

Complete. The deck covers what its name promises. A deck called “Countries of Africa” includes all of them.

Rights and licenses

Our Terms of Use set out the rights you need to publish a deck and the license you grant us. In practice, you can publish content that you:

  • Created yourself. Using AI to help is fine, as long as you have checked the result.
  • Found under a license that allows sharing, such as public domain or Creative Commons material, as long as you follow the license’s conditions.
  • Have permission from its author to publish. This includes decks saved from the Deck Library, which the Terms of Use reserve for personal use otherwise.

Credit your sources. When a license or an author asks for attribution, name the source and its license in the deck’s description.

Images and audio follow the same rules as text: only include media you have the right to share.

Safety and privacy

  • Do not include personal information about yourself or anyone else, such as names, contact details or private notes.
  • Do not publish content that is illegal, hateful, sexually explicit or meant to harass.

Review

We may review decks published in the Deck Library, and we may edit the listing of, or remove, a deck that does not follow this policy. We may also remove your ability to publish decks if you repeatedly or seriously break this policy.

To report a deck that uses your work without permission, follow the copyright complaints section of our Terms of Use.
