Cards layouts
With cards layouts, you can manage the disposition of fields in cards. A deck can have one or several card layouts.
Having several card layouts allows you to retrieve knowledge from different pieces of information. For example, you can have a front and back side in one layout, and reverse them in another.
During reviews, one of the active layouts is chosen randomly for each card.
Editing cards layouts
- To create a new layout, click .
- To edit a layout, click below the layout you want to modify.
When creating or editing a layout, drag and drop fields to the front or back side of the card. You can also reorder fields on the back side.
Card layouts have two constrains:
- They must have exactly one field on the front side.
- They can have from 1 to 5 fields on the back side.
Primary card layout
The primary card layout is the default layout used to display your cards.
There is always exactly one primary card layout in a deck. To delete it, you need to select a new primary layout first.
In the primary card layout, the field on the front side can't have any empty values. This ensures there is always at least one valid layout when you review your cards.
Activate or deactivate a card layout
You can deactivate a layout to prevent it being used in reviews instead of deleting it.
